ORIGIN

Our premium cloves are grown organically in Madagascar, without the use of chemicals, pesticides or fertilizers.

AROMA

Whole cloves have a strong, warm, and spicy aroma that is both sweet and pungent. The scent is intense and can be quite overpowering if a large quantity is present.

FLAVOR

The taste of whole cloves is similarly strong and complex, featuring a combination of sweet, bitter, and astringent notes. The flavor is highly aromatic and can leave a lingering, numbing sensation in the mouth.

MEDICINAL PROPERTIES

  • Antimicrobial Properties: Cloves contain eugenol, a compound with strong antimicrobial properties. This makes them effective against a range of bacteria, viruses, and fungi, helping to prevent infections and promote oral health.
  • Analgesic and Anti-inflammatory Effects: The eugenol in cloves also provides significant analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. Clove oil or whole cloves can be used to relieve pain from toothaches, sore gums, and other inflammatory conditions.
  • Digestive Aid: Cloves are known to aid in digestion by stimulating the production of digestive enzymes. They can help alleviate indigestion, bloating, and gas, and are often used to relieve nausea and vomiting.
  • Antioxidant Activity: Cloves are rich in antioxidants, which help combat oxidative stress and protect the body’s cells from damage by free radicals. This antioxidant activity contributes to overall health and may help prevent chronic diseases.
  • Respiratory Health: Cloves have expectorant properties, making them useful in treating respiratory conditions such as coughs, colds, and asthma. They can help loosen phlegm and clear the respiratory passages.
  • Blood Sugar Regulation: Some studies suggest that cloves may help in regulating blood sugar levels, making them beneficial for people with diabetes. They can improve insulin function and reduce glucose levels in the blood.
  • Immune System Support: The antimicrobial and antioxidant properties of cloves support the immune system, helping the body fight off infections and illnesses more effectively.
  • Liver Health: Cloves may promote liver health by enhancing liver function and protecting it from toxins. The antioxidant properties of eugenol play a role in this protective effect.
  • Bone Health: Cloves contain compounds like manganese and eugenol that support bone health. These compounds can help increase bone density and strength, potentially reducing the risk of osteoporosis.
  • Oral Health: Cloves are widely used in oral care for their ability to reduce bacteria in the mouth, freshen breath, and alleviate tooth pain. They are often an ingredient in mouthwashes, toothpastes, and natural dental remedies.
  • Anti-cancer Potential: Preliminary research suggests that the compounds in cloves may have anti-cancer properties. Eugenol has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and induce apoptosis (programmed cell death) in certain types of cancer.
  • Skin Health: Clove oil, when diluted, can be applied topically to treat acne and other skin conditions due to its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
