🌿 Prepping the Seed
1. Crack the Seed
- African Dream Seeds have a hard outer shell. Use a nutcracker, hammer, or heavy object to carefully crack it open.
- Only the inner white “cottony” part (the endosperm) is used for tea—not the dark outer shell.
2. Shave or Grind the Inner Seed
- Once you have the white inner part, slice, shave, or gently grind it into small pieces or flakes. A microplane grater or mortar and pestle works well.
3. Optional: Lightly Toast
- Some users lightly toast the inner seed pieces in a dry pan for 1–2 minutes to enhance the nutty, earthy flavor and mellow the bitter notes.
4. Brew as a Tea
- Use about ½ teaspoon to 1 teaspoon of prepared seed per cup of water.
- Steep in hot (not boiling) water (around 190°F / 88°C) for 10–15 minutes.
- Strain and enjoy, preferably before bed

• Chewing: A small piece of the seed can be chewed before bedtime. The taste is quite bitter, so some people prefer to wash it down with water or herbal tea.
• Tincture: Some people create a tincture by soaking the ground seed in alcohol for several weeks. A few drops of the tincture can be taken before sleep.
• Infusion/Tea: Another method is to make a tea or infusion with the ground seed. Boil water, add the powder, and let it steep for 10-15 minutes. Strain the liquid and drink it before bedtime to potentially enhance dream recall and vividness.
